A Hat for Ava
© 2012 Heidi Chouinard
One of my close friends asked if I would make her daughter a hat for this winter. At first I was thinking it might take me awhile...wrong, this hat only took me a few evenings to make! I am already finished with another hat for another lovely little lady. :)

You can find the pattern for this hat on ravelry: The Hudson Hat by Heidi May
I used a slightly smaller gauge than what the pattern called for. The hat is knitted up in children's size.

When I went button hunting I originally wanted to choose a contrasting color button against the yarn but couldn't find any good ones. I did find these pinky-brown ones that almost camouflage into the hat. I am not much of a matchy person, but I actually don't mind how well the buttons go with this hat. :) I hope Ava likes it!

Garter Stitch Love
© 2012 Heidi Chouinard
Good Morning guys! :)
I have a couple of projects on the needles right now, and have some finished projects being blocked and waiting to be photographed. I will share with you soon. For the time being I would like to gush a little about the garter stitch.
My local yarn shop recently had a yarn sale, and I got a large zip lock bag full of some gorgeous neutral tweeds. At first I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but then it soon dawned on me! I am calling this piece 'The Poor Man's Scarf'.
These neck worms by Sandra Juto is part of where my inspiration is coming from and of course the classic, beautiful, simplicity of the garter stitch.

As the garter stitch can tend to be boring and not exciting to knit, there is something to say about this beautiful classic stitch.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday! :)

I love a colorful, simple, painting geared towards children, which is what I had in mind for these small canvas paintings. I am very often inspired by simple, creative, ideas for nurseries or children's rooms. I did these for Nightingale, leaving the top of the canvas blank so we can add a name by request.
