Beach Hut-Knitting Kits

These knitted beach huts by Suzie Johnson  are too adorable! Suzie owns a small knitting business, 'the wool sanctuary' that she runs from her home.

You can find her blog here, as well as the beach hut knitted kits.

Some Random Reminiscing

While sifting through my many folders of many photos, I'd thought I would share a few unique ones I have...

These two were taken at this really neat store in Kennebunkport, Maine. I Unfortunately don't remember the name of it.

My dad, thinking I've taken enough photos of him for the day.  ;)

Beach Knitting

Yup. I do knit at the beach in the blazing sun. I cast on a honey comb(with my Shibui sock yarn) and knit while enjoying the atmosphere of the beach. Mmmm, the slight breeze, sand in your toes, heat of the sun on your skin, salty air, and the soothing sound of the waves crashing on the beach. The beach is one of my favorite places in the world.

Mr. Gully decided to join me. Hehe, he was quite the poser...

Super Cupcake & Knitting Notions

© 2012 Heidi Chouinard

I am currently working on this Super Cupcake Slouchy Hat for myself for the coming winter. I am pretty picky when it comes to hats. Since It is going to be my first winter living in Canada, I am going to need a casual winter hat that can be worn most of the winter. I wanted a hat that could for the most part be worn with anything and keep my head and ears warm at the same time, and of course be stylish. I am really liking the way it is knitting up. For the body of the hat it is 'the fishermans rib' stitch, which I am enjoying, and love the look of. The yarn I am using is Spud & Chloe Sweater, worsted superwash, color: Beluga.

I got this super cute pouch as a gift last Christmas, and have been using it to store my knitting notions in. I love it! I have just enough room for my little scissors, needles for blocking, measuring tape, thread, markers, Chibi tapestry needles, cable needles, a button, a couple of stitch holders, and some scrap yarn. It is also the perfect little size to fit into my knitting bag/purse for on-the-go.

What knitting notions do you have, and what do you store them in? Please share! :)

Fournier Inspired

Fournier is a childrens's clothing, accessories, & toys line, all hand made in Bolivia. I find their work to be so inspiring. I love seeing hand knit lines that are simply gorgeous, and knitted with such perfection. The finished product is flawless, and clean.

I tell yah, I have to work on my tension. One day I will get to such of level of perfect, flawless hand knits...one day. It is peoples amazing hand work(such as Fournier, and Misha Puff) that keep me so inspired with determination!

What Inspires your determination?

Surprise Arrival from Manitoba

EEEEEEEEE!!! My crocheted surprise lovingly made by my future sister-in-law came in the mail today! :D I am super excited and can't stop gushing over it. I absolutely love it! She knows me pretty darn well. I have been wanting to make myself an off white/creamy colored infinity scarf for this coming winter. Well, now I already have one!

I had my sister model it for me so I could take a shot of the detail. The pattern Christen used is called The Chunky Circle Scarf by People Webs.
Thank you so much Christen! I will be treasuring this piece for many years to come! :)
Christen just received her knitted surprise yesterday! I can now share some of the photos I took of it.

This Autumn in Garrison Slouchy Hat by Kate Gagnon Osborn was so much fun to knit. It was my first time following a lace chart. I found it to be very clear and easy to follow. I did have some issues in the beginning and had to frog the hat more than a few times, but that was all my fault, being distracted while knitting.

Hope your having a relaxing evening! :)

Little Loafers

© 2012 Heidi Chouinard

My lovely great aunt Audrey gave me a call last week and asked if I could knit her up a pair of baby booties for a baby shower gift. Of course, I was more than happy to! She wanted them to be neutral, which worked out perfectly, given I already had some left over yarn from the romper. The intent was for the booties to be non-gender. I am hoping they don't look too masculine...I think they look like little man loafers, but at the same time can see these on a girl, depending on the outfit.

This pattern was very easy to read and follow and was a quick knit up on dpns. The free pattern is called 'Baby Mocs' By Whit Knits from the Purl bee. I would have loved to turn in them into Moccasins, but didn't have all the colors. I also thought it might be best to keep them plain.

Do you have any baby booties on your needles? If so, please share! :)

A Trip to the Circus

My family and I went into Boston last week to see Cirque Du Soliel. We had front row seats and VIP passes! It was awesome! Unfortunately they strictly prohibited the use of cameras, so I have no photos. The show was so inspiring in so many ways. This week at work my sister and I have been getting creative with venetian masks, SO much fun! I ended up spray painting mine about a gajillion times and not liking the results. I ended up adhering some lace and then painting over it afterwards.

My favorite part was applying the string gel medium. It is the consistency of honey and very fun to manipulate with the paint brush!
Then there was carefully adding a tad of gold seed beads for a finishing touch.

Some Paper and Some String

A while back I had made some paper cat garland for the store. Marie came up with the name 'Cat Parade', which I thought was clever! Of course we had to hang them above the mouse house.

This past week I made a 'Happy Birthday' garland...

The jimmies are my favorite, of course ;)
Hope everyone is having a great summer day!
