Newborn Scratch Mitts (Free pattern)

Hey guys! To my Canadian peeps, hope everyone enjoyed their Canada day weekend! To my American peeps, Happy 4th of July!
I've decided to share the pattern for the, 'newborn scratch mitts'. I'm not super experienced with writing up patterns, so don't hesitate to make me aware of any errors! Enjoy! XO

Scratch Mitts for Newborns

*Note: These mitts are both knitted at the same time, in the round, using the magic loop. They just as easily can be knitted separately in the round on dpns-whatever you prefer.

>Size 1 needles; for the magic loop, a 32” circular needle
>Sock yarn-fingering weight
>Tapestry needle for grafting stitches and weaving in ends
>A comfortable spot on the couch to cozy up on and knit away

CO 36 sts (for each mitt)-with casting on two at a time for the magic loop, here is a clear video.
Knit 10 rounds of K2P2 ribbing

Round 11: For each mitt-{*K8, KFB, knit to end, repeat from * for the back needle}, increasing 2 stitches
on each mitt, having 38sts.

Mitt: (for each mitt)
Begin knitting in garter stitch-because you’re knitting garter stitch in the round, you will be alternating a knit round and a purl round, beginning with a purl round (Round 12: Purl, Round 13: knit, and so on).
Work in garter stitch for 2”, ending with a knit round. *Be sure not to stretch your work while measuring*

Decreases: (for each mitt)
Round 1: {SSK, K to last 2 stitches, K2tog}, do the same for back needle.
Round 2: Purl
Repeat these 2 rounds 4x’s, ending with a knit round, being left with 22sts for each mitt.

Grafting: (for each mitt)
With 11 stitches on front needle and 11 on back needle, total 22 stst, graft stitches together, using the Kitchener stitch.

Weave in all ends
